Today presents the best prospects for months of some decent rain and hopes are high. The talk has all been about what’s coming – and when and how much.
At Narrabri late yesterday, publican Vince Weekley said the drinkers in his front bar hadn’t been talking about much else.
“There’s no rain yet, and it doesn’t even look like it but we reckon it will be raining by morning.”
Locals, he said, had been talking about nothing else than the 20mm to 30mm they might see from today.
The weather experts suggest areas west of Narrabri will see the first rain from the slow-moving trough set to bring widespread falls across NSW. In Tamworth, weather watchers reckon the golfers will get their games in this morning – with rain set from early afternoon to late tonight. The BoM was still forecasting a 90 per cent chance of up to 20mm in Tamworth today – but also good chances of more showers on Sunday and early Monday.
