The man was driving a Holden Commodore utility heading west along Oxley Highway about 12.45pm on Thursday when it ran off the road.
Police said it appeared the utility failed to negotiate the sweeping bend, just out of town, before
it careened down an embankment rolling several times. The driver, believed to be a Walcha local, was ejected from the vehicle and was killed instantly.
Investigators have seized the utility which will undergo a forensic mechanical examination as part of the investigation into the circumstances surrounded the crash.
A report will now be prepared for the coroner.
