The women from Attunga and Somerton completed the “rigorous” Learning in Action course, which included training development, numeracy and literacy studies, writing a reflective journal and volunteering in the classroom to consolidate their learning, course co-ordinator Karen George said.
Ms George said the course was a catalyst for parents to become “life-long learners”.
“It shows kids their parents are role models,” Ms George said.
Maxine Wadwell said she enjoyed the course and was now studying to be a teacher’s aide.
“It gave me a different perspective,” she said.
Robyn Mowbray and Sonya Hook volunteer regularly at the school and said the course gave them some methods and strategies for teaching children.
“I just thought it was a fantastic opportunity to get an insight into how the education system works,” Ms Mowbray said.
