The Tamworth mother is the Australian lightweight champion after winning her national championship in Sydney recently.
It brought great credit to the Tamworth Kykushin Dojo said fourth dan black belt and trainer Mark Tyson.
“She’s been training with me for six years,” Tyson said.
“She’s been working very hard and deserves her success.
“It’s quite an honour for us to have the best lightweight in the country in our dojo.”‘ We also had three others finish with third placings – Phoebe Clark, Rachel Barnes and Sarah O’Neill. It was a good experience for all of them.”
He said Fiona O’Neill will now prepare for the World Cup in South Africa at which he will also be striving for his fifth dan black belt.
