The Tamworth woman with a penchant for the 1950s and ’60s will feature in a US magazine next month – becoming the latest international pin-up.
Renowned for her retro styling and love of all things rockabilly, Mrs Minson has won a “pin-up” competition.
The competition was run by Pin-Up America magazine and attracted entries from across the world.
Piallamore photographer Andrew Pearson who had never done a vintage or pin-up shoot before, shot Mrs Minson for the competition at a home at Moore Creek.
“It’s a nice surprise and nice because it was all done in Tamworth,” she said.
Caroline Morgan from Ego Hair and Beauty styled Mrs Minson’s hair for the shoot, adding to the local flavour.
The American-based magazine focuses on rockabilly and retro stories and the prize for being one of the two winners of the pin-up competition was to feature in the September/October edition.
Mr Pearson’s photo of Mrs Minson will have a full page in the edition.
Mr Pearson said the win was “very random”.
“I knew Shelley was going to put our photos into some competitions and I never really thought much more about it,” he said.
“When I found out it was such a well-known magazine, I was chuffed with the win. I’d never done a pin-up shoot whatsoever, but went through and had a good study at what the top photographers were using as far as lighting methods. It’s about the image always looking fun and the models really pop in the photo.”
He’s overwhelmed by the win, only having been a professional photographer since October last year.
He’s had a camera in his hand since he was a child, though, and after leaving behind 15 years in the police force he decided he’d go professional.
Mrs Minson is also featured in a new Muswellbrook-based magazine called Belle Vie which also used Mr Pearson’s photos from the shoot.
