Ron Davis was in the shed of his Hillvue home, walking towards the garbage bins near the front of the house and heard a strange noise.
“I heard a clunk and saw a guy run across the road, so I had a look over the fence and saw the car into the house,” he said.
Police said the 40-year-old learner driver had driven out of a neighbouring driveway, pulled onto the road and stopped a bit close to the centre line.
They said the instructor had told her to move further back into her lane, when she hit the accelerator, panicked and couldn’t find the brake, mounted the gutter and drove across the front yard and into the main bedroom.
The car took out the double window and only the boot was left protruding from the house, but no one was injured.
Mr Davis said the car had hit the bed and gone up to the wardrobes on the far wall.
Police investigations are continuing into the incident.
