I COULDN’T agree more with what John Coleman of Limbri recently wrote (The NDL, July 23) about foxes.

I grew up with chooks and we’ve always had them roaming free during the day and have always locked them in at night.
Yet within the past two years foxes have been sneaking in during broad daylight and taking my chooks.
It’s heartbreaking and I’m sick and tired of this happening. And it’s proving costly as well.
Once this lot of chooks that I’ve got die, I’m done.
I can’t believe that NSW is the only state that allows a person to keep these miserable excuses for animals as pets.
I was even more amazed to see that for $100 you could actually adopt a fox. That money gets you a vaccinated and desexed fox.
What a joke.
Yes, they won’t be able to breed, but they will still go out and kill, won’t they?
These do-gooders who don’t want these poor creatures killed are evidently city dwellers and don’t know the first thing about the damage, heartache and cost these pests incur on country people.
The rules and regulations need a serious overhaul. Laws need to be changed.
The fox needs to be declared a noxious pest and we should be able to bait them.
As it is now, fox numbers are increasing because most of us can’t do anything about them, as our neighbours are too close.
Keep up with the fight, CWA, and know that you have plenty of support.
