Tamworth Public scored in the final seconds to win a thrilling Classic Shield (PSSA Boys League Knockout) Regional Final at the Minor League Fields yesterday. Moree East looked like taking the honours when after trailing 16-6 they hit the front 18-16 with just a couple of minutes remaining. But Tamworth Public regathered the kick-off and a few plays later five-eighth Vanda Erich scooted over from dummy half to put them ahead by two. The conversion made it 22-18 and sees Tamworth progress to the inter-regional state of the competition. Here Tamworth’s James Marshman (left) and Angus Buhler (right) try to prevent Moree East’s Dwayne Porter-Smith breaking away.
