About 9.15am on Tuesday, New England highway patrol officers were patrolling the New England Highway when they stopped a car at Kentucky.
A 28-year-old man behind the wheel was breath-tested and returned a negative result.
Police checks revealed the man's licence was suspended and he was allegedly driving a vehicle which he was prohibited from for his class of licence.
The officer had suspicions and commenced a search of the vehicle where police will allege they discovered cannabis and methylamphetamines hidden inside.
The 28-year-old man was arrested and taken to Armidale Police Station where he was charged with two counts of supplying a prohibited drug and two counts of possessing a prohibited drug.
The man was granted bail to front Armidale Local Court on August 25.
Traffic & Highway Patrol Command’s Acting Assistant Commissioner Stuart Smith said this arrest was proof that CATCH training continues to deliver both road safety and crime reduction results for the community.
"Those that are involved in conveying contraband by road can expect to be intercepted and prosecuted by Traffic & Highway Patrol Command Officers on a daily basis," he said.
"We continue to train officers across the state to identify such activity which continues to deliver results."
