Oxley High’s Jessica Aldridge and Coonabarabran High’s Harley Wood were among those to shine with both breaking multiple records.
Aldridge set new marks in the 15yrs girls shot put and javelin, throwing 36.24m in the javelin and 13.93m in the shot put.
Wood leapt his way into the record books, jumping 6.33m in the 15yrs boys long jump to better the old mark by 5cm and 12.83m in the triple jump. The old record was 12.81m and had stood since 1994.
It was a combined record with two boys jumping that distance, coincidently both in that year.
Tamworth High’s Nick Price continued his record-breaking year setting a new benchmark in the 15yrs boys discus of 51.61m.
He added 1.06m to the old record, which had stood since 1988.
Price has now broken the school, area (Arinya) and zone records in the event.
Macintyre High’s Bethany Zanco-Hinds also threw her way to the 16yrs girls shot put record with 11.58m.
Narrabri High’s Bella Stewart jumped her way with her clearance of 1.58m making her co-holder with Inverell High’s R Krause.
Armidale High’s James Briggs meanwhile leapt 5.57m in the 13yrs boys long jump.
There were also records on the track with the Oxley High 13yrs girls relay team covering the 400m in 54.59secs.
The first two placegetters in each event will progress to the State Championships in Sydney from September 4-6.
Walcha Central’s Rhiannon Moran and Tenterfield High’s George Jones will be two of the busiest there.
Moran qualified in six events in the 17+ girls, and Jones five in the boys.
Another seven athletes qualified in four events.
