During May investigators from Tamworth formed Strike Force Rutter to investigate the supply of methylamphetamine in the area.
Investigators executed a search warrant at a home in Coromandel Street, Tamworth, on Friday.
Police will allege they found a revolver, ammunition and a silencer.
Officers, with the help of a drug dog, also allegedly found six vials of anabolic steroids, cannabis, a quantity of white powder and sachets of crystals that were removed for forensic analysis.
About 3.40pm Friday police located and arrested a 49-year-old man who was later charged with eight offences including possess unauthorised pistol, possess unregistered firearm, possess or use prohibited weapon and supply prohibited drug.
The man was refused bail and appeared at Tamworth Bail Court. He remains in custody and will appear at Tamworth Local Court on Monday, July 28.
