Last weekend Eedi was one of 12 contestants in her first pageant, the Face of Beauty, at Mount Pritchard in Sydney.
After almost a week of competition, rehearsals and promotions, the 16-year-old bush beauty came away with the title of Miss Photogenic 2014, a trophy and some cash – but wait, there’s more.
One of the nine judges, Johan Westen, a renowned photographer and the national director of Miss Teen Universe Australia, was so impressed with Eedi, he invited her to represent Australia in February 2015 in Guatemala in the Miss Teen Universe pageant. So the tomboy from Tamworth, who started work yesterday with McDonald’s, as well as an assistant in nursing course, is officially Miss Teen Universe Australia.
Move over, Jen Hawkins! Here comes Eedi Jennar.
Mr Westen told The Leader he was gobsmacked when he learned Eedi was just 16.
“I do a lot of pageants and when I saw Eedi on stage, she looked fantastic. Then she told me later it was her first pageant and I thought ‘wow, what confidence that girl has’,” he said.
“She has so much poise for one so young. You can tell by her presentation.
“She can walk out in any outfit and any theme – swimwear or evening wear – and her personality just comes out. She’s a natural talent. Eedi’s got a huge future ahead of her.”
