Dozens of police officers have descended on the town to ensure both locals and visitors toe the line at tonight’s outdoor concert with Keith Urban.
Barwon Inspector Stuart Campbell said Operation Fuse had been formed to police the event which is expected to draw 6000 people.
“We will have numerous uniformed police on the ground,” he said. There will also be covert police working throughout the town to monitor crowds and their behaviour.
“Police will be focusing on anti-social behaviour in and around the concert and afterwards to basically ensure a trouble free event.”
And it won’t just be the concert field police will be keeping an eye on, with officers set to swarm camping areas, the CBD, car parks and the roads in and out of town, targeting alcohol-fuelled behaviour.
“Police are asking people to drink responsibly and don’t drink and drive,” Inspector Campbell said.
“There will be a large focus on random breath testing in and around Narrabri and there will be public transport available, so people are encouraged to use that instead of driving their vehicles.”
Operation Fuse wraps up on Saturday.
