I would like to set the record straight in the wake of a number of comments and feedback being circulated in the community.
* The operational cost of running this community station has increased greatly over recent years. The membership and sponsorship have not kept up anywhere near the increased station running costs.
* The station previously has not been able to gain increased
sponsorship from sponsors, as they found the station did not have a broad appeal to potential listeners in the station’s broadcast coverage. Therefore there was reluctance to place sponsorship on the station.
* Research carried out by the station clearly indicated the station was not providing a service to a larger part of the market and was very narrow in its programming formats.
The decision made by the station has been made not by one person, but by dedicated members of the station, including some with significant experience in the broadcasting industry, along with other members determined to prevent the station from facing possible closure.
I would like to thank the many people who have contacted the station with their support and the new sponsors that also feel the station’s format now reaches a greater audience share to promote their services.
The station broadcasts over 38 hours of continuous country music programs, plus country songs mixed through the day. This is greater than previously broadcast by the station. This may surprise some of the station’s critics.
There are small pockets of people who do not want the station to move forward for their own personal reasons, however they do not reflect the growing majority of listeners.
