Nine-year-old Shyann Barber has always wanted to do her bit to help those less fortunate, and recently she made a decision not many of us are brave enough to make.
She decided to cut off most of her hair and donate it to help kids with cancer.
Kerry Maher from Kez’s Hair and Beauty donated her time to come out to the school and cut off Shyann’s long blonde locks.
Excitement was evident for the young student as her peers cheered her on.
A few nervous tears were shed between mother and daughter as the young girl glanced over at her very proud mother, Kerry Dalton, just before the first cut.
However she quickly perked up again with the continuing support and loud cheers from her friends.
Her blonde hair has now been donated to the Cancer Council and will be made into a wig to help out someone fighting this terrible disease.
Following the bold move, Shyann’s mother said her daughter loved her new hairstyle.
“She actually came up to me and said ‘I only have to use two pumps of shampoo now, instead of seven or eight.”
Shyann is debating whether to keep her short hair, or grow it out and donate it again.
