Diamonds and gold are both associated with this milestone anniversary, but the ladies of the auxiliary celebrated with an afternoon tea on Saturday.
President Maureen Sampson said they were joined by special guests, including Tamworth hospital general manager Brad Hansen, director of nursing and midwifery Ricki Bradbery, patron of the hospital Alec Noble, New England area United Hospital Auxiliaries (UHA) representative Leslie Croft, New England area UHA past president Dorothy Strohle and patrons and life members of the Tamworth branch Jean Pannan, Mary Carter, Barbara Moore and Letty Elks.
The celebration included a presentation of memories and history of the hospital and its auxiliary and a presentation on what the members can expect the new hospital to be like.
The auxiliary was formed in 1917 at the hospital as a sewing circle and to collect donations and in 1939 formed the Tamworth branch of the UHA.
Mrs Sampson said about 115 people enjoyed the "beautiful afternoon tea" at the Tamworth Community Centre.
"The presentation on the new hospital by Brad Hansen was very enjoyable and very informative ?and he answered all questions," she said.
"It was quite enlightening for those present."
Mrs Sampson thanked the ladies of the auxiliary for their "beautiful cooking and help on the day" with the event even attracting older former members Mavis Byfield, Kitty Thomas, Marj Maunder, Enid Allen and Betty Halpin.
The organisation raises vital funds for Tamworth hospital to aid the comfort and care of patients.
