Dragon Palace, in Peel St, was evacuated due to a fire in the kitchen as staff were preparing for the lunch service.

Tamworth Fire and Rescue NSW said two fire crews attended, with West Tamworth FR NSW called, but not required.

Tamworth police and ambulance paramedics also attended.

Firefighters said there was minor damage to the restaurant’s kitchen.

A spokesman from the restaurant said they were still open for business.
