Chef Pete Evans could be facing his greatest achievement yet in scoring an Emmy on Monday for his US television show – only he will not be there to see it.

Instead he is taking a well-earned break in the Kimberley with his family, "and that to me is more important than attending an awards ceremony," he says.
However, he is "absolutely thrilled" that the show, Moveable Feast with Fine Cooking, is up for a daytime Emmy in the culinary category at the prestigious awards, which will be held in the Beverly Hills Hilton on Monday (Sydney time).
"It is our first season and even to have been spotted on their radar is quite an achievement, and one we are all proud of as we have all worked so hard to make it a success," he says. "As far as winning, well, that would be awesome and would make all the team very happy."
The show is yet another element of Evans’ chef-with-a-mission status and his continuing campaign to educate people to eat better. In the series he travels to the US, meeting chefs and food producers. He says the show "celebrates ethical farmers and honest cooking".
"It is a simple and honest TV series that highlights and applauds farmers and fishermen who are the real heroes of the food scene," Evans says.
"We are creating thoughtful food programs where education and conversation are encouraged, and the simple beauty of where real food comes from is highlighted."
He has just completed the second season, filming 13 episodes over four weeks, which will air in the US later this year. Evans said there were no any plans yet to bring it to Australia.
The show is "Paleo inspired", focusing on a nutrient-dense diet that avoids grains and processed foods. Evans, will be promoting the diet in a nationwide tour, called The Paleo Way, in July.
It has also been confirmed he will be joining Manu Feildel for the sixth series of My Kitchen Rulesin the "coming months". "I love that a cooking series is in prime time and loved by so many people, as the first step to health is getting into the kitchen and cooking," he says.
Evans will also return to the US, where he regularly appears on NBC’s Today show, in January for a series of cooking slots to promote his new cookbook The Paleo Chef.
He is also determined to continue his healthy eating drive.
"My ongoing aim is to bring correct nutritional education to the public through whatever ways I can," he says. "I have a terrific community of like-minded people on my Facebook page and it is growing rapidly, and this is how massive change can happen."
