Just weeks ago, the former FM 92.9 brekky co-host was waking locals up with top 40 hits on high rotation.
But since parting ways with commercial radio, Ms Norris has taken up a pivotal role in Tamworth’s reborn community radio station – 88.9FM.
The 32-year-old mum-of- three said the transition to the new format – 88.9FM proudly pitches to the 50-plus market – had been seamless.
“I’ve always been told I’ve got an old head on my shoulders so I fit in well here,” Ms Norris said.
“It actually brings back a lot of memories. Many of the songs I’m playing now I remember hearing on cassette in dad’s car when I was growing up.”
Ms Norris hosts the Tamworth Today program from 9am to noon Monday and Friday, and also sells sponsorship for the station.
“It’s great to be part of a station that is driven by community support,” she said.
“We’re going through a huge change at the moment and it’s very exciting.”
Born and bred on the Sunshine Coast, Ms Norris moved to Tamworth with her family nine months ago to take up a position of breakfast announcer on FM 92.9.
She declined to comment on her departure from the station but said she appreciated the support from listeners who had followed her to 88.9FM.
“I want to thank the listeners and apologise for why there was no explanation when I left,” she said.
88.9FM operations manager George Frame said it had been a coup for the station to secure Ms Norris’s services.
“She’s been a great acquisition for us and she joins a number of other presenters with commercial broadcast experience,” Mr Frame said.
“They are helping upskill our volunteer presenters and making the station much more professional.”
