The Country Music Capital was yesterday announced as the rally venue for the national Harley Davidson owners group.
The American motorcycle company said Tamworth would play home to the Australian National Harley Owners Group (HOG) Rally from Friday, February 27 to Sunday, March 1.
The 2014 rally has just finished in Cairns where up to 1800 riders brought bikes estimated to be worth about $45 million to town and injected about $4 million into the local economy.
The HOG muster will be held at the Tamworth equine centre AELEC and will bring riders and owners from across Australia, and also from New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and England, according to Harley-Davidson.
It will end with a bang of course – the Sunday Thunder Run is the culmination of the rally weekend where thousands of Harley riders will roll through the city.
There will also be a daily lineup of entertainment and in Cairns this included guided rides, bike games, non- rider simulator rides, new model demos and even piglet racing.
A spokesman for Harley-Davidson Australia Adam Wright said they were excited to be heading to the heart of country and the home of Australian country music for “a barnstormer of a weekend.”
“The people of Tamworth are in for a real treat, with a once-in-a-lifetime chance to hear the Harley thunder and watch this very unique spectacle, as thousands of riders rumble through the streets,” he said.
