The carnival will be held at the Jewry Street Fields commencing at 10am, and involve teams from Moree, Narrabri, Inverell, Armidale, Walcha, Barraba, Scone, Gunnedah, Quirindi and Coonabarabran competing in five age groups from U6s to U14s.
It comes on the back of the North West finals of the Primary 7s, which were held in Tamworth on Tuesday.
St Nicholas’ Tamworth, St Xavier’s Gunnedah, St Joseph’s Quirindi, Calrossy, Scone Grammar and Werris Creek Primary battled it out for the regional title and the chance to represent the region at the State Finals.
Scone will have that honour after prevailing 35-15 over St Nicholas’ in the final.
There were fewer teams than organisers had hoped with a few late pull-outs but there was some good talent on show.
The Scone side will now show its wares at the State Finals in Sydney on the Friday before the Wallabies-France Test with the actual final to be played as the curtainraiser to theTest.
