The six-year-old gelding by Falvelon beat the Nathan Sinclair-trained Playa with Gavin Groth’s Mount Annan a half length away third.
Sinclair has dominated the Boolooroo Cup, winning the last four with General Relativity (2011), Crystal Club (2012), Joppick (2013) and now Tapakeg.
He has also won the picnic cup with Sahara Bounty (1995), Midas Boy (1999-2000), Nepelle (2003) and Jazzmaker (2007).
It was a good day for Sinclair as he also won the third race with three-year-old gelding Dungiven.
Inverell trainer Wayne Oakenfull kicked the day off with a good win with his new horse, Manner Ridge.
Tamworth trainer Kevin Dixon then won with four-year-old mare Multi.
Grafton trainer Joanna Methven made the long journey worthwhile with Midnight Frenzy’s win while 80-year-old Goondiwindi trainer Roley White won the Bracelet with 9-1 outsider Sequalo Revenge.
