The Warrick James-coached side takes just eight players to Bathurst after two of its squad had to pull out, coach Warrick James said.
“It will be a challenge for us with Sarah Briscoe- Hough and Jess Watt, our talented Year 7 girl, unable to go,” James said.
“Bathurst are notoriously strong in basketball and apparently one of their guards plays in the Western Reds’ CPL side.
“Our girls have done well to get this far.
“We didn’t play as well as I would have liked to lose to Peel in the regional final here last week but hopefully we’ll give ourselves a chance of pushing through to the next round.”
James’s daughter, Rachel, will be one of the key forwards today and when they arrive back from Bathurst this evening, she hops on a bus to go to Coffs Harbour for the State CHS Netball Carnival.
Rachel is part of the North West side for that while her Oxley High netball side plays Quirindi High in Quirindi in a State CHS Netball Knockout tomorrow as well.
OXLEY OPEN GIRLS’ BASKETBALL SIDE: Rachel James, Georgia Flemming, Amelia Dadd, Maddie Dadd, Nat Vinall, Jordy Cotter, Tammy Pittman, Paris Sharp. Coach - Warrick James.
