The theme of this year’s celebrations was Nurses: A Force for Change – A Vital Resource for Health and at Tamworth hospital nurses were treated to a barbecue lunch and cake for the occasion.
The continuing good health of the nursing staff was also on the agenda, with nurses treated to hand massages from TAFE students and a talk by an exercise physiologist about the importance of looking after themselves in what can be a physically-gruelling profession.
International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world every May 12, the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, considered by many the founder of modern nursing practices.
