OVA Mushrooms joined previously unbeaten North Companions at the top of the PL Southern Conference last week when they beat Guyra United 4-2 in the sleet and snow at Guyra.
Today the Tim Coates-coached Mushies head north again, but in far better conditions to tackle the Redmen on their home turf in Armidale.
“It’s going to be a tough game,” North Armidale coach Andy Lennon admitted.
“But that’s what you play for week in and week out. To be tested and challenged to play the best you can.
North Armidale won its first game of the new season in Tamworth last week when 5-nil winners against North Companions at Marius Street.
Lennon knows they might have got a lucky result.
“Talking to a few of the boys, we might have got away with one down there.
“They had some chances but didn’t take them and we did.
“They (North Companions) try to play good football. Gavin (Thompson) has got them going well.
“They just don’t kick it in the box and hope for a result.”
North Armidale goes into the match in fourth spot on the Northern Conference on a day where South Armidale Scorpions also have a big home game against North Companions at Armidale Sportsground.
South is fifth, six points adrift of Northern Conference leaders East Armidale.
East travels to Inverell where it plays Moree FC in a double header at the Inverell Sporting Complex along with the Joeys FC and Narrabri-Wee Waa.
That leaves Gunnedah Hawks to host Demon Knights at home (Kitchener Park) and Tamworth FC tackling Guyra United at Johnson Field in Tamworth.
