Women follow men at Tamworth

 TAMWORTH Golf Club’s men held the major golfing spotlight at the club over the weekend but the female golfers take centre stage this week.

The first round of the Tamworth Lady Golfers Foursomes Championship will be run today.

64 golfers will tee off in the championship from 8am .

On Sunday, the Carey’s Freight Lines Tamworth Easter Open concluded,  with Muswellbrook teenager Dylan Perry prevailing.

Perry carded rounds of 68,71 for a four-shot win from Woolgoolga’s Logan Toms (68,75) while 18-year-old Tamworth golfer Nathan Mann was a further shot back in third after rounds of 71,73.

Armidale Golf Club also staged a four-day carnival over the weekend, a carnival that drew more than 300 golfers from Sydney, Townsville, Brisbane, Canberra and the Central Coast.
