Coroner Michael Holmes last week handed down his findings into the deaths of Anthony and Suzanne Kenny after a coronial inquest was held in Inverell Local Court.
The bodies of the couple were discovered by police in their Riverview home on Target Hill Rd in the early hours of December 28 last year.
The couple’s death shocked the tightknit community of Bundarra, where the couple were well-known.
An extensive brief of evidence was handed to the coroner before the officer-in-charge of the case, Detective Sergeant Tony Eshman, took to the stand to give evidence.
Coroner Holmes told the inquest “that it is a tragic case”, before he handed down his findings.
“On Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Bundarra in the state of NSW, Suzanne Emily Kenny died from the effects of an injury, namely a gunshot wound to the head inflicted upon her by a person known and since deceased,” he found.
“On Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Bundarra in the state of NSW, Anthony John Kenny died from the effects of an injury, namely a gunshot wound to the head which was self-inflicted, with the intention of taking his own life.”
The couple were farewelled at a funeral service in Bundarra in January this year.
