The volunteers sacrificed their Easter weekend to make tea and coffee for holiday drivers who needed a break, at the Driver Reviver station at Nemingha.
Volunteer and Tamworth Lions Club member Les Gardner has been volunteering since it started in Tamworth, which he said was about 30 years ago.
He said this year they had the best biscuits they’d ever had and hundreds of drivers had stopped to be refreshed and enjoy a chat before continuing their journeys.
“We educate them as to where they can stop. I think it does help, because they schedule their travelling to suit,” he said.
“I’m sure it saves lives. It stops people, they relax and, if they’re feeling a little bit fatigued, this helps them no end.”
