The Australian Quarter Horse Association’s 36th Championships began last week and continued Monday with the American Halter and Performance classes at Q14.
AQHA’s Nick Moss-Smith said it was a “double Judge” show.
“Such classes are judged individually by each American judge and awarded as such,”Moss-Smith told The Leader.
“Cassandra Huyshe, aboard MTC Easy Tiger, was awarded first place in the American Quarter Horse Association Amateur Hunter Under Saddle class, by judge Jan Hosking and 2nd place by judge Dolly Chayer. The judges were unanimous in their decision in placing MTC Easy Tiger ridden by local trainer Carolyn Johnson, first in the AmQHA Junior Horse Hunter Under Saddle class.
“Other local trainers Kane Skopp, Holly Johnson and Allan Briskey also did well in the AmQHA Junior Horse Western Pleasure classes. Junior horse classes are for horses aged between two to five years of age. The quality of the young horses are outstanding and the presentation of horses and riders overall is to be congratulated.
“More Halter classes followed on Tuesday as well as the Youth Judging where local Isabel Davis placed fourth in the 12 to 14 years section. The Youth Judging encourages our Youth to learn more about Judging and what Judges are looking for in the Horses and riders that compete.”
She Western Performance competitors battled it out yesterday and again today.
“English classes will be held on Good Friday along with our Performance Horse sale that commences at 5.30pm,” she said.
“Our sale catalogue and event program can viewed on line at www.aqha.com.au. Saturday will showcase the Quarter in Dressage, Hack, Show Hunter and Reining.”
Entry to the Q14 is free.
Nicky Moss-Smith and the AQHA take the opportunity to wish everyone a happy and safe Easter. “We hope to see you all at AELEC this long weekend,” she added.
