For many years when flying out of Tamworth we would simply book in then wait and have a coffee until our flight was called.

We would wait at the door nearest the Aero Club or the coffee shop.
A flight attendant or staff member would check that our tickets were correct then we would walk out to board the appropriate aircraft.
After the security system was introduced all passengers boarding any aircraft over a certain weight had to check their luggage in and then wait until their flight was called, then through the secure area showing their tickets before leaving by security door to walk out to board their heavier aircraft.
Now if I want to board a domestic or charter flight using a lighter aircraft at the terminal our glorious council says that I must pay the security fee in addition to the fare before I can board any aircraft from the terminal. This is regardless of the fact that a security loading fee legally only applies to the heavier type aircraft.
Why can’t passengers wishing to board a lighter aircraft regardless of it being a regular airline or charter flight which does not require the security check for its passengers be asked to pay the extra fee?
For many year passengers used the system of check-in then board through the door adjacent to the coffee shop.
Why does the Tamworth Regional Council now want to build another door at some ridiculous fee, when the door referred to is used every day by incoming passengers?
Is there another reason for this that we are not being told about or have the councillors failed to do their homework?
Please remove any security charge from the lighter aircraft as it is not a legal requirement.
