One bad FJ rumbles and rolls the rest

ORGANISERS have unveiled the grand prize winners from the weekend’s highly successful Country Classic Motor Show at TRECC.

Thousands of locals attended the show to view some meticulous machines, including category winners:

Best of the Show – 1955 ‘1BADFJ’ – Dave and Lyn Keen of Forster

Meguire’s Choice – 1964 Blue EH Holden – Troy Veale of Armidale

Shannon’s Choice – Goggomobil imported and displayed by Bill Buckle

People’s Choice Car – 1939 Sahara Red Chevrolet – Peter and Jenny Guthrie

Best Commercial entrant – 1924 Chev truck with tilt tray – John Bokes

Best Showcar – 1959 Blacktop Chevelle - David Guthrie from Ipswich

Best Sportscar – red Ferrari 328 owned by Dean Erich of Tamworth

Best Competition vehicle – 1966 Brabham F2 – Brian King, Alstonville

Best Display – 1950 FX Holden (48/215) – Bruce and Judy Soper, Bolwarra (near Maitland).

The best display vehicle was numbered 1590th in Australia after World War II.

It was ordered in 1949 but not delivered until 13 months later in 1950.

The original owners drove it for 25 years and stored it for another 25 until Bruce and Judy Soper bought the vehicle in March 2000 to begin restoration.

After the deduction of costs, Tamworth West Rotary Club hope to provide tens of thousands of dollars to local charities from money raised through motor show entries.
