A bemused Mr Swindale, from ARB, soon found himself “behind bars” in Tamworth’s Centrepoint as part of the PCYC fundraiser, Time4Kids.
He was one of eight local business identities, including The Leader’s own Kylie Ticehurst, who gave up part of their day to raise money for the local PCYC, collecting donations prior to the event and then asking those walking past their “cell” to donate to secure their release.
Mr Swindale’s colleagues had been collecting money in the weeks leading up to yesterday’s lock-up, all behind their boss’s back – and he wasn’t the only one to be duped by his workmates.
PCYC Tamworth manager Kylie O’Leary said everyone had embraced the spirit of the day though, and new ideas were already being generated for next year.
She said she was unsure how much had been raised, but was confident of exceeding the $5000 mark.
