Tamworth teen in the mix at Longyard titles

TALENTED teenager Nathan Mann is just two shots off the lead heading into the final two rounds of the Lion Nathan Longyard Golf Club A Grade Championship.

Mann led after last Saturday’s first round when he shot a one under par 71 in a day highlighted by an early-afternoon deluge.

John Trevaskis carded a first-round even par 72 while defending champion Ben Lockwood recorded a 76.

However Lockwood was eight shots better on Sunday, shooting a two under par 68 while  Trevaskis, the former Tamworth rugby union pivot  carded a one under par 71.

Mann’s second-round 74 dropped him back two shots adrift of Trevaskis and one behind Lockwood with this weekend’s final two rounds to play.

Peter Clemson leads the B grade while Wayne Jolliffe is in front in C Grade.

Mary Ann Macklinshaw leads the ladies’ A grade and has won the Longyard ladies’ veterans’ title while Richard McGhie is the Longyard men’s veterans’ champion.
