Sims, placed on report for a shoulder charge late in the 28-2 success at 1300SMILES Stadium, declined to be interviewed afterwards in the wake of reports he wants out of his contract.

"You can't talk about it in front of him but the boys, they're hoping because he's definitely one of the talents of this team, prop Tamou told radio Triple M.

"Hopefully he can see we had a good win tonight and he's going well and hopefully he doesn't want to mess it up going somewhere else."

The commanding win, with halfback Robert Lui leading the charge, snapped a three-match losing streak for the Cowboys.

"What we haven't done (previously) is control the ball - our completion rate was up in the eighties," said coach Paul Green.

Of Lui, the coach said:, "He certainly made some improvements but he needed to.

"I said 'play better - or else' (laughs). Everyone was doing his job."

Back rower Jason Taumalolo suffered a shoulder injury which will be scanned tomorrow.

Green continued: "We trained all pre-season, up until the Nines, with Lachlan Coote at fullback and then to lose him ....

"It's a key position in a team and we moved a guy there who's never played there.

"If anyone expects us to be humming in attack with a guy under those sort of circumstances, they're kidding themselves.

"It was always going to take time ... tonight was a step in the right direction."
