A 38-YEAR-OLD man was airlifted to Tamworth hospital on Saturday afternoon after a horse he was loading onto a float fractured his lower leg.

The man was at Wingen Recreation Ground around 4.15pm when the accident occurred.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter  flew him to hospital.

Man in custody over punch

A 51-YEAR-OLD man has been in custody at Moree Police Station since Wednesday after being charged with grievous bodily harm in relation to an incident that allegedly occurred at Ashford.

Last Tuesday about 6pm, the man and his partner, 41, had been drinking at a friend’s house when they argued about the accused’s drinking.

The following day, at 12.30pm, the man turned up at a Martyn St address, where he and the woman argued again and he allegedly punched her, knocking out her dental plate.

The man was arrested by Inverell Police and had bail refused at a bail hearing in Inverell Local Court and is being held at Moree Police Station for his court appearance today at Moree Local Court.

Mid-range reading for 49yo  

A GUNNEDAH driver will front Tamworth Local Court on May 5 charged with mid-range prescribed concentration of alcohol after pulled over yesterday .

About 2.30pm, the man, 49, was driving his Ford sedan on Gunnedah Rd, Tamworth when he was stopped for a random breath-test near Cook St.

He allegedly blew .108, was arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station, where a breath-test confirmed the previous result.

The driver had his licence cancelled on the spot and was issued with a court attendance notice.

Arrested after parole breach

A 19-YEAR-OLD Inverell man who breached his parole conditions was arrested yesterday afternoon.

Leading Senior Constable Chris Curtin of Inverell Police said the man still had seven months of his parole conditions left to serve and had failed to adhere to those conditions.

Police attended a Pleffer Pl address.

“He tried to jump out a back window but he jumped into a police officer’s arms,” Constable Curtin said. 

Driver safe after flipping car

A CAR driven by a young Armidale driver flipped onto its roof during a single-vehicle accident yesterday.

The accident happened at 1pm on Platform Rd, about 5km from Armidale. 

The young female driver was not hurt.
