Local stars to cut a rug for cancer research

TAMWORTH local celebrities will don their dancing shoes for a fundraising event with a difference for The Cancer Council.

The Tamworth Celebrity Dance for Cancer was launched yesterday at the Tamworth Regional Library, and will be held at Bishop Peter Chiswell Hall on the William Cowper Campus on June 14.

It’s under a new name this year, but last year Tamworth Dancing With the Stars raised more than $90,000 towards cancer research and support.

Twelve local identities, with their dance partners, will take to the dance floor for one performance on the night, all under the watchful eye of a panel of judges who will award three judges’ choice prizes, with a People’s Choice and Fundraising Award also being decided.

Tickets went on sale this week and are available from Tamworth Secretarial Services at 108 Brisbane St.
