The official opening with civic leaders and dignitaries was held yesterday – the doors finally thrown open on the
8-lane, 25m heated pool at the heart of the project, along with a second pool, weights room, cardio area, fitness studios, creche and cafe.
The new-look 360 Fitness Club, on the corner of Wirraway and Beaufort streets in Taminda, has also been hailed as the start of a new era for the district’s water sports, with the extra-wide, heated pool going to a depth of 1.8m, allowing for more people to train through winter and sports like water polo to be played year-round.
Yesterday, Tamworth Regional Council mayor Col Murray did the honours with the cutting of the ribbon, before invited guests to get their first look at the new gymnasium.
Today the public will be welcomed in with a grand opening from 9am to 4pm, featuring a band, marquee, free access to the gym and pool, free creche service and even a group fitness marathon.
