Participants leave on the two-day fundraiser tomorrow from the Tamworth Information Centre, where the route for the trip will be revealed, including a surprise visit to somewhere well off the beaten track.
Yesterday, organisers Jeff Galbraith, from the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, and Lindsay Maybury were on the job at the Quirindi Rugby Club, busily preparing the camp-oven dinners that will feed the hungry travellers on Saturday night.
The adventure, which returns to Tamworth on Sunday, is being sponsored by local business Leicht’s Tyre and Auto, with principal Peter Leicht saying the family nature of the weekend appealed to them.
“From what I hear is planned, this sounds like it will be a fantastic weekend away for drivers of all levels, and a great opportunity for some camping and fun with all the family,” Mr Leicht said.
