TWO Olympic greats will go head to head this weekend as the AELEC lights up for three days of jumping action.
The Peel River Produce Indoor Jumping Championships will get under way tomorrow and will be hotly contested. Local Sydney 2000 representative Ron Easey has prepared a team of three horses to compete in the main event.
Easey will defend his 2013 PRP Indoor Showjumping Championship when the titles begin tomorrow.
It won’t be easy jumping however, as Olympic legend Heath Ryan has also joined the class. Ryan is better known for representing Australia at the world level in both eventing and dressage, but his jumping ability is undeniable and Easey will have to work hard to take home the championship rug.
Also in the grand prix line-up are a number of talented young riders making their mark in the senior classes. Local boy James Hetherington is in top form after winning big classes at the 2013 State Championships, also held at the AELEC.
His team of horses is ready to jump their socks off at what is becoming one of the feature events on the NSW jumping calendar.
The action will be hot all weekend with classes beginning indoors tomorrow and continuing into Saturday and Sunday with a second ring outside.
The feature event, the Peel River Produce Grand Prix, is scheduled to be held on Saturday afternoon.
Entry for spectators is free.
