An Oakwood man remains behind bars after police seized a firearm and handcuffs near Inverell.
Officers were called to the Oakwood home just after 8.30am on Wednesday after re- ports of a domestic assault. Police searched the home and seized a .45 calibre semi-automatic pistol, an amount of ammunition as well as a set of handcuffs.
The 30-year-old man was arrested on the spot and charged with possessing an unauthorised pistol, possessing a prohibited weapon, two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two counts of common assault.
Following his arrest, Stephen John Calman fronted Inverell Local Court yesterday on the eight offences.
Magistrate Michael Holmes refused the 30-year-old bail and ordered him to remain in custody until the case returns to court on April 7.
