The Order of Australia New England North West Regional Group has about 100 members, each with impeccable community service credentials.
As the name suggests, members of this exclusive club must have been recognised with an Order of Australia for their contribution to the country.
Last week, about 50 members and their partners met at the Tamworth Airport to get a briefing about the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
John Muller said the event, in which Westpac service chief Barry Walton and crewman Shaun Maher gave presentations, had been an eye-opening experience.
“It really just showed how valuable it is to have them playing the role they do in Tamworth,” he said.
“It was so interesting and informative. It is so valuable to have them here serving people of Tamworth and the district.”
