Hundreds of primary schools students from right across the North West took to the refreshing waters of the Monkton Aquatic Centre hoping to swim their way onto the zone team to compete at the State Carnival.
The first three placegetters qualified to race at state, which will be held in Sydney from April 9-10.
North West is looking at a team of about 113 members.
Tamworth Public pair Olivia Saunders and Chris Taggart will both be part of that.
They were among the top performers yesterday qualifying in a number of events.
Ben Venue’s Lara Maloney, Sir Henry Parkes’ Ella Wishart and Gunnedah South’s Anaya Boal and Jackson Carr also placed in several events.
Today it’s the secondary students’ turn. Just as for the primary, the first three placegetters will go on to the state carnival.
The CHS carnival will precede the PSSA running from April 6-8.
