About 5.30pm, Turesday, officers attached to Oxley Local Area Command were called to Cossa Street after reports of a large brawl.
On arrival, police discovered a large amount of people fighting in the street, some allegedly armed with bottles and rocks.
It’s further alleged a number of items were thrown at police as they attempted to intervene.
No officers required any medical attention.
Three people were treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics and taken to Tamworth Base Hospital with minor injuries, while a fourth man sustained swelling to his face and a suspected broken nose. He was also hospitalised, but has since been released.
Following inquiries, three men aged, 52, 29 and 27 were arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station, where they were charged with affray and offensive behaviour.
The trio was refused bail to appear before Tamworth Local Court on Wednesday.
Investigations into the matter are continuing and further charges are expected to be laid.
