About 12.30am yesterday a 42-year-old man was stopped on Old Bundarra Rd at Inverell for a random breath test.
The Inverell man failed the roadside test and police will allege he recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.118.
His licence was suspended on the spot and he was charged with mid-range drink-driving.
About an hour later police arrested the man’s 39-year-old wife on Macintyre St after she allegedly went to retrieve the vehicle from the road.
The woman allegedly blew 0.150 and was charged with high-range drink-driving.
Checks also revealed the woman had never held a licence. Both have been ordered to front Inverell Local Court on March 13.
