A swag of grants to local young sportspeople was warmly received this week, all part of a $3.14 federal government program.
New England MP Barnaby Joyce congratulated the 15 recipients from the region, with grants ranging from $500 for individuals to $3000 for teams.
The money for talented sportspeople aged between 12 and 18, aims to help with the cost of travel, accommodation, uniforms or equipment.
From cricket to cycling, Mr Joyce said the latest grants supported a wide spectrum of sports, proving the depth of talent among our region’s young people.
“I was especially pleased to award these grants because it rewards young people who are working hard on developing their skills in their chosen field,” Mr Joyce said.
“It promotes important lifelong skills such as dedication, focus and healthy living. It is important we do all we can to foster this.”
