The romantic flower has long been considered the go-to bloom to profess one’s love.
And luckily for us, the woody perennials are in abundant supply at local florists and are in tip-top condition, having been sheltered from the dry and harsh conditions in glasshouses and supplied largely from Victoria and Tasmania. Margaret Wilkinson of Tamworth Florist said she was coping well with the influx of orders on what is arguably one of her busiest days of the year.
The florist said she had “a lot” of 70cm long-stemmed roses on standby for last-minute admirers, not to mention other beautiful blooms, as well Valentine’s Day favourites such as chocolates and soft toys.
