A TENTERFIELD woman was killed and two women related to her are in hospital after a car accident near Stanthorpe on Saturday.

The 54-year-old woman, who was a passenger, was killed when the vehicle she was travelling in and another collided on the New England Highway about 3.15pm near Whiskey Gully Rd.
She died at the scene. A 20-year-old from Tenterfield was airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.
The other Tenterfield woman, a 25-year-old who was driving, was airlifted to the Toowoomba hospital for assessment of spinal injuries.
The 37-year-old driver and sole occupant of the other vehicle, a woman from Surfers Paradise, was not injured and is assisting police, while three occupants of another car that crashed into the two other vehicles were also not injured.
The relationship between the three women from Tenterfield could not be confirmed by police.
The highway was closed for several hours and the Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.
