POLICE are following a number of leads in an attempt to identify a man wanted over a violent assault in Tamworth.

A 22-year-old man suffered a fractured eye socket and nose and remains in a stable condition after the incident in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The victim was walking along the intersection of Marius and Murray streets when he was approached by a man before a brief conversation ensued.
The man then punched the victim in the face and fled the scene on foot, headed towards Scott Rd.
Acting Inspector Josh McKenzie said the man police want to talk to is described as Caucasian, aged 25 to 30, short blonde/brown hair, and was last seen wearing blue denim jeans and a white shirt with a black motif on the front.

Meanwhile, three men have been arrested over an altercation in Fitzroy St on Australia Day.
Police were called to the scene about 10pm over reports of an incident between two males.
Police will allege a 25-year-old man resisted police efforts to arrest him and in the process, a number of other people became involved.
The 25-year-old man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault police and resist arrest.
A 51-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with wilfully obstructing police.
Both men were granted conditional bail to appear in Tamworth Local Court next month.
