Golden Guitar winner Victoria Baillie said she couldn’t wait for the gig.
“This is my 15th year and it’s really exciting to be back again,” she said. “It’s a little bit like a tradition now. I’ve done my solo career and now I’m back doing the duo thing with my sister, which is way more exciting.”
It’s only a quick trip for the duo, doing a show with Kirsty Lee Akers at Wests’ Diggers and some smaller appearances. It’s been a busy 12 months for the pair.
They went to Nashville for the CMA Fest, played festivals including CMC Rocks, Bordertown Country Music Fest and Mud Bulls and Music and there’s no slowing down in sight.
“We’ve had quite a few festival appearances and it just flew,” Victoria said. “This year we plan to do album number two and are heading back to America for a month as well as Norfolk and New Zealand in May.”
Victoria said they might record in October, and could be recording in the US, but they travel to perform, write songs and network.
“We go over and meet more people every time,” she said.
They have no plans to turn their backs on their Aussie fans, though.
“I’m just happy with performing here in Australia, but any exposure is good exposure,” she said. “Being in America, and building that fan base – it’s another world over there because they have such an appreciation of music over there, so it’s huge.”
Baylou will play Wests’ Diggers with Kirsty Lee Akers on Tuesday at 3.30pm.
