So far the countdown to the festival proper, which begins on Friday evening, has seen a total of 210 sites occupied.
According to Tamworth Regional Council, which runs the temporary camping area each festival with local sporting associations who man the gates and help run facilities, the numbers of campers who have arrived so far beats the 195 sites for the same time last year.
The Riverside complex had reported 102 sites filled since last Friday, a day after the sites had been opened up by Tamworth mayor Col Murray.
This was also ahead of the 2013 figure of 81 for the same period.
By last Sunday night the figure had grown to 179 sites.
The council expects another burst of arrivals on Friday ahead of the official launch of the 2014 Tamworth Country Music Festival.
